A 39-year-old man has been sentenced to life behind bars for raping his 14-year-old daughter in Greytown, KwaZulu-Natal.
On July 24, 2018, a 14-year-old girl was at her Rietvlei home with her father when he raped her.
“The father had been getting away with raping her for a while until a concerned neighbour noticed the strange behaviour of the child and questioned her,” a police statement read.
The victim told officers that her father had been raping her since 2017 and threatened her with violence if she told anyone.
A case of rape was opened at Rietvlei SAPS.
The docket was transferred to Greytown Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences for further investigation. A 39-year-old man was arrested on 26 July 2018, while at his home.
He made several court appearances until he was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment on June 26 by the Greytown Regional Court.
