Suspect nabbed with drugs worth R25k in Bethelsdorp

Police have arrested a 36-year-old suspect for possession of drugs worth R25 000 in Bethelsdorp, Eastern Cape. 

On Tuesday evening, members of PE K9 unit responded to a ‘tip off’ of “suspicious drug activity outside a house” in William Slammert Drive in Bloemendal.

When police arrived at the house, they noticed a bakkie driving off. They followed the bakkie and eventually pulled it over in Mrotyana Street in Kwanoxolo.

Members searched the vehicle and found five 5 bags, each containing 100 star mandrax (total 500).

The 36-year-old driver was arrested on a charge of illegal possession of drugs. The estimated street value of the drugs is R25 000.

The suspect is expected to appear in court soon.
