Former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela continued to set a shining example when she reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro for charity.
As part of the Trek4Mandela initiative, Madonsela reached the summit with a team including Lexis Nexis members and Sello Hatang, CEO of the Nelson Mandela Foundation, on Women’s Day last week.
"The biggest lessons were by far conquering the mountain within us, and realising the strength and courage one can master when focusing on the commitments we made to serving these girls in order for them to be able to conquer their own mountains," said Madonsela via her foundation, ThuMa.
One of the beneficiaries of the trek was Caring4Girls, a programme which raises funds for sanitary pads.
Three cheers for Professor @ThuliMadonsela3 and her expedition team, led by well-known mountaineer and adventurer, Sibusiso Vilane and including two LexisNexis ladies, Mari van Wyk and Lee-Anne King who successfully summited Mount Kilimanjaro in on Women’s Day the 9th August! pic.twitter.com/Ad5KJhPJnH— LexisNexisZA (@LexisNexisZA) August 11, 2019
