Nigerian vocalist Tiwa Savage has taken a stand against the ongoing xenophobia in South Africa by cancelling a performance.
The hitmaker was set to perform at the upcoming DSTV Delicious Festival at Kyalami on September 21 and 22.
"I refuse to watch the barbaric butchering of my people in SA," wrote the artist on twitter.
"This is SICK. For this reason, I will NOT be performing at the upcoming DSTV delicious Festival in Johannesburg on 21 September. My prayers are with all the victims and families affected by this."
Savage announcement comes after three days of violence in Gauteng, where foreigned owned shops were looted and owners attacked.
Nigerian Afro-fusion singer Burna supported Savage's decision.
"I have not set foot in SA since 2017. And I will NOT EVER go to South Africa again for any reason until the SOUTH AFRICAN government wakes the fuck up and really performs A miracle because I don't know how they can even possibly fix this." he tweeted.
The DSTV Delicious Festival still has British singer and songwriter Corinne Bailey Rae and Kwaito outfit Kawala Jazmee, among others, set to take the Delicious main stage.
