The long wait for the release of the new-look Land Rover Defender is finally over.
The iconic 4x4 has traded in it's old-school rugged good looks for a more modern, sleek design, but still pays homage to its old shape.
As design schief Gerry McGovern says, it's "inspired by the past, not constrained by it".
The new models are the three-door Defender 90, as well as the long-wheel base Defender 110.
"Our new 4x4 has been developed for adventurous hearts and curious minds," said JLR chief commercial officer Felix Bräutigam.
"With four personalities to choose from, two body styles and a comprehensive range of options and accessories, customers will be able to personalise Defender to make their ultimate 4x4 companion – whatever their lifestyle."
IOL reports that the Defender should hit South African shores in early 2020. So for now, we'll just have to drool (or rage?) at videos like this...
